Cashmere Care

We Recommend, that our products should be Dry-Cleaned, to help with the removal of difficult stains. Always treat stains promptly. You can also hand-wash your Cashmere products following the below guidelines.

HAND WASHING

  • The temperature of the water should be between 20 and 250C /warm water/.

  • For a single sweater or scarves/stoles, 4-5 liters of water are recommended. Washing cashmere in a small amount of water will damage the product.

  • Add mild detergent or soap in water and swirl to disperse the soap evenly.

  • Place the item in water for 5 minutes until soaked.

  • Gently squeeze the item with soapy water.

  • Do not wring or rub the cashmere while hand washing

  • Carefully squeeze the cashmere without wringing the water out.

  • Then rinse thoroughly but carefully in clean lukewarm water.

  • Lay the item flat in its natural shape on a thick drying rack or a towel to prevent the item from wrinkles and to lose its shape and elasticity.

  • Steam the item. It can be ironed on a steam setting. If steam iron is not available, simply wet a cloth and put it on the flat laying cashmere and gently press with a heated iron.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Do not use bleach on your cashmere as even diluted solutions can damage, discolor or weaken fibers and decorations of the item.

  • Do not hang the cashmere as this will stretch out of shape.

  • Avoid wearing cashmere next to rough clothing or accessories, as this can cause snagging or pilling.

STORING CASHMERE

Storing your cashmere between wears: When you are wearing your cashmere garments regularly, it is preferable to store them between wears by folding them carefully and placing them in a clean drawer or on a shelf.

To keep your cashmere fresh and deter moths and mildew, store them with cedar wood balls or dried lavender buds in sachets, the balls should be replaced at least once every 6 months and sachets once every 10-12 months.

Storing your cashmere for a longer period of time: Over the warmer months when you may not be wearing your cashmere, it is a wise idea to place your garments into more long-term storage until you are ready to wear them once again.

Before doing so, your cashmere garments should be thoroughly cleaned to prevent attraction by clothes moths.

Choose a clean place for your cashmere storage that is free from dampness and away from sunlight, for example, a drawer, shelf, or on top of a wardrobe. Store your cashmere only in a breathable cotton bag, along with a couple of cedarwood balls or dried lavender buds in sachets to help keep them fresh.

Changes in the ambient temperature over the months can cause condensation inside the plastic storage bags, so we strongly suggest that you do not keep your cashmere garments inside the plastic bags for more than three months.

PLEASE NOTE

  • We provide reusable premium natural cotton storage bags and dry lavender buds in a drawstring pouch with all purchases over INR 4,000.

  • Pilling caused when groups of short or broken fibers tangle together in a tiny knot or ball-- a pill. These can form from rubbing, abrasion, or just during normal use, making the cashmere comb truly essential.
